Unlike other Hindi languages, Mizo alphabet is based on the Roman script. The total number of speakers outside India, however, is not known. It is also spoken by some communities living in Bangladesh and Myanmar. Mizo is spoken by over 1 million speakers in the northeastern part of India, in the state of Mizoram and its neighbouring states of Manipur, Tripura, and Assam.
